The International Electric Power Forum RUGRIDS-ELECTRO. Russian Grids. New Opportunities Became A Key Industry Event in 2015

From October 20 to 23 Expocentre Fairgrounds in Moscow hosted the International Electric Power Forum RUGRIDS-ELECTRO. Russian Grids. New Opportunities and the largest industry exhibition Rugrids-Electro. More than 5,000 participants, exhibition area of 20,000 sqm, over 50 business related events, considerable discussions, and important agreements are the results of the key event in the electric power industry in 2015.

The Rugrids-Electro Forum and the exhibition were organised by Rosseti and Expocentre, supported by the Russian Ministry of Energy.

The Forum 2015 program covered the most relevant issues of the industry development in terms of geo-economic challenges and creation of new models of international partnerships. Heads of ministries and departments, law-makers, heads of corporations and energy companies were involved in the discussions. The Forum associated events reflect both key macroeconomic trends such as creation of priority development areas, improving mechanisms of special economic regimes, enhancing interaction between small, medium and large businesses and factors ensuring innovation-based industry development such as energy efficiency and resource saving, e-transport promotion, and charging infrastructure development.

The debate devoted to Electric Power Industry in Russia: National Technological Pattern or ‘A Mirror’ of the Global Development Trends opened the Forum. The participants discussed the current state and future development of Russia’s electric power industry beyond the model of accelerated innovative development and tried to show opportunities for innovation-based upgrading of the Russian electric power enterprises.
On this day Rosseti and Elektrosetizolyatsia NP signed a cooperation agreement whose purpose was to intensify efforts aimed at improving performance of the power grid companies, reliability of electrical grids and energy security of the industry as a whole, as well as creation of a strong electrical market.

The key event of the Forum second day was a plenary session on Electric Power Megaprojects: Do We Really Need Modernized Technology Alliances? The participants in the session were representatives from Russia, China, France, and Japan. The experts thoroughly discussed the role of modernized technology alliances in implementation of electric power megaprojects as well as political, economic and technological conditions of interaction between Russia and the APC States in the electric power industry.
On the Forum last day Russian and foreign experts took part in the plenary session on EnergyNet. The Future of Smart Energy in Russia and discussed the most relevant issues concerning transition to smart energy and the implementation period of the National Technology Initiative in the industry.

At the round table on Electromobility: Incentive Cannot be Stopped representatives of the Moscow City Government, General Director of MOESK Pyotr Sinyutin and the world’s leading manufacturers of electric cars and charging infrastructure for e-transport discussed the most important industry issues and plans for the e-transport market development up to 2018. On that day the Forum also featured the panel on Developing Approaches to Business Assets Management in Electric Power Companies under the Current Conditions. The panel participants were IT Director, Head of Department of Corporate and Technology Management Systems at IDGC of Siberia Dmitry Naumov and Head of Department of Power Grid Facilities Management at IDGC of Volga Alexey Trifonov. The participants in the round table devoted to centralized and decentralized systems of relay protection and automation were the industry experts including Deputy Chief Engineer, Head Dispatcher of FGC UES, Cand. Sc. (Engineering) Vladimir Pelymsky, Head of Department of Relay Protection, Metrology and Automated Process Control Systems at FGC UES Viktor Pulyaev, Director of Department of Relay Protection and Control Automation at MOESK PAO Maksim Gribkov, Head of Relay Protection and Automation Department at Tyumenenergo Andrey Burov, Deputy Head of Department of Relay Protection, Metrology and Automated Process Control Systems at FGC UES Andrey Shemetov, Head of Centre of Technology Implementation ‘Digital Substation’ at STC FGC UES Sergey Popov. They discussed burning issues concerning development of relay protection and automation systems of the present day. The participants in the round table on Lean-Culture: from Cost Management to Value Engineering were Pavel Lubuzh, partner of Strategy Partners Group, Alexander Areshkin, Director of Business Process Automation at MAESK PAO and Aubekir Temirbulatov, Head of Department of Corporate and Technology Management Systems at IDGC of the North Caucasus.
The associated events of the Rugrids-Electro Forum and Exhibition featured the communication forum on New Opportunities for Development of Strategic Communications in the Electric Power Industry under the Current Market Conditions, the conference on Application of Promising Developments of Cabling and Wiring Products at Transmission Facilities of Russia, and a number of other events.

The participants in the largest electric power exhibition Rugrids-Electro held at Expocentre in Moscow were major electric power companies: manufacturers of high-tech equipment, Russian and foreign developers of integrated control systems, innovative companies and startups. The Rugrids-Electro exhibitors showed visitors and participants technological capabilities of the industry, Russian and foreign advanced developments, equipment, solutions, innovations and technologies in the electric power industry. Among the exhibitors of Rugrids-Electro 2015 were such companies as ABB, General Electric, Siemens, PLC Technology, EZOIS, Electroshield Samara Group, Togliatti Transformator, ProSoft Systems, IEK Group, Minsk Electrotechnical Plant named after I.V. Kozlov, Streamer, and United Energy Company. The Forum partners were Energostroy-M.N., Energomera, SAP, Hitachi, Schneider Electric, Tavrida Electric, Tecon Group, Energocontract Group, and many others.

The International Electric Power Forum RUGRIDS-ELECTRO. Russian Grids. New Opportunities and the Rugrids-Electro Exhibition became important events in 2015 in the electric power industry and a large-scale communication platform for the industry professionals, businessmen, and public officers.
